Casey was up to around 7th or 8th &seconds later ended up outbraking himself & over ran the corner & got boxed-in in the run-off area & ended up re-entering last. that was his race done :( He ended up with a puncture. I'm not sure if it was what caused the off or whether the runoff caused the puncture yet. TV guys didn't let anyone know anything about it. It'll come out in the wash I guess though.

Hi guys. It seems to me that he got the tyre damage from an earlier incident.. I watched the race and these guys are totally insane. The whole race was full of carnage! The following is taken from the official report.

Those mid-pack weren’t so lucky – Casey Stoner was caught up in an incident with Minda Motorsport’s Cameron Waters, which forced the V8 Supercar debutant to make a pit stop and finished the race in 29th.
Stoner started 11th and had moved to eighth when his front left gave way.

“Somebody cut across in front of me – they saw an opportunity with a few people going wide in front of us to dive down the inside at turn one only he didn’t look inside to see I was there and he clipped me,” the former Moto GP Champion said.

“It’s disappointing because before the incident we had a pace much higher than where we were. I wasn’t in a rush. Finally we’ve got a good car for the weekend and we haven’t been able to do anything with it.”

It sucks how they have to grid up for race 2 - in the finishing order from race 1. I hope he has a good race today and makes up heaps of spots from pos 29!

Top race from Casey today. It showed he has the speed to run up the top six or seven. Such a pity about the first race result, but he should take a lot of heart from this last race. He came through the field brilliantly. If he can stay out of trouble in race 3, he should be in for an excellent result. Race one was a perfect illustration of what I said earlier. In V8s, there is much more of a chance of getting put out of a race than in motogp. A simple fact unfortunately. Casey's place in the championship isn't a true reflection on how well he has done so far. I just hope he doesn't lose heart over it.

Thanks speedy, I was wondering what happend there. :) It's good for him to realise that some of these things wrecking his races so far have mainly been others mistakes, & not his own. He should be encouraged that he is actually doing a lot better than his results have shown so far.

Thanks for those race 2 results Aussie! From 29 to 14th is very respectable! Maybe 7 will replay it this afternoon at some point, but sadly I am not quite up to sitting through hours of "taxi" racing on the off chance that they do :D

Well that race was annoyingly, frustratingly, unpleasant to watch :? Half the race was under the safety car :? The most annoying thing about it ws Casey was doing brilliantly. Passing a lot & looking completely the part. Bugger it :x 16th better than 17th I guess  Because of race 2 being half points, Casey had to start 26th instead of 14th where he finished in race 2. This was a huge weekend for Casey performance wise. He should be absolutely absolutely stoked - apart from the actual results he got - he showed he has the abiltity to belong in the V8 paddock if he really wants it. :D He did manage to pass 10 guys in around the 8 or 9 laps that weren't under the dafety car, which is brilliant. Virtually everytime I saw him, he was either up the backside of the guy in front or was overtaking them. He made up 10 places together with him making up 15 places in the second race. Such a pity it was only 16 laps. I can tell you guys that didn't get to see the race, his racing was great. :D 8-)

Exactly how I saw it Aussie! The race was a joke, but Stoner was all class! How aggressive was he when he was on the back of yellow #44 (I wondered if he was seeing 'yellow' ) And I was stoked to see that he ended up in front of that guy. The slo mos of Casey on 2 wheels were awesome!
The points system for the grid positions are strange. It seems that race 1 is the most important in that regard.
It also seems that if you can't start from the front end of the grid, the next safest place is right down the back. The midfield danger zone is massive!

Something else that I noticed speedy was that there were only 5 other drivers that were faster on track. Such a pity that he wasn't able to start from a better grid position :(

Also, as said, how they arrive at the grid positions is just ridiculous, ......... for the main event also. I think that they should have one qualifying session & then that's it. I reckon the race position from previous race should be the starting position of the neXt race IMO.
